Farewell November

Long time no blog eh? I have been quiet for some time due to busy times at work and lots of illness in our household.  Annoyingly we have not had a period at all this month when we have all been healthy!

Stella was hit by a stomach bug, the flu then a virus. Then my husband and I both had a ghastly stomach bug.  It seems from listening to my friends with children that everybody has something at the moment and actually looking back at this time last year we were in exactly the same position.

Our weekends have revolved around the sofa, comfortable clothes, the washing machine churning endlessly and far too much Peppa Pig.

To top it all off last week I left the house to visit my local Mums and Tots group and hit my car off a bollard in the car park. Ouch.

Really I know that I shouldn't have been driving at all with no food in my stomach and feeling ever so horrendous but because I was feeling soooo horrible I thought it would be a good idea to get out of the house and let Stella play with some other children in the hopes that I could get sat down for a bit.....

Clearly that didn't work out and it certainly made for one highly expensive never mind embarrassing (lots of tears) trip out.  After pranging my car I was in no mood for playtime so it was a quick turn around back home to lick my wounds!

But with every cloud there is always a silver lining and I received some really kind messages from the girls at my group that most definitely helped me feel that bit better.

Following that car mishap another one occurred when a transit van decided to force me onto a grassy verge and remove and destroy my entire wing mirror. 😱

Today my car is basically just sat in bits in my driveway and after getting a terrifying quote for the work that needs done to it it might well just stay that way.

So yes....December!  Hurrah! This month will be much better of that I am sure.

Below is a photo of me (looking EXHAUSTED, those eye bags!) wearing a beautiful Vivienne Westwood scarf that I picked up from Roco Boutique.  Isn't it a stunner?  Plus the bonus is its very warm.

Scarf - Vivienne Westwood at Roco Boutique Holywood
Coat - All Saints City Monument Coat
Jeans - All Saints Grace
Boots - Dune Trish Over the Knee Boots

Did anyone get anything from the Black Friday sales? I had been considering making a Mulberry bag purchase but sadly there were no discounts available. Instead I took advantage of the 30% off at All Saints and purchased a top and a couple of jumpers oh and a candle or 2 from Zara Home who do thee nicest candles (as good as Jo Malone in my opinion but for half the price)

If your on the look out for a gorgeous scarf and hat then I have found a few nice options, I am currently trying to work out which I will be purchasing

L-R - John Lewis Studded Set - Mint Velvet Jewelled Neutral Hat
LK Bennett Cashmere Mink Pink Set - Ted Baker Bobble Hat
John Lewis Nordic Set - Ted Baker Pom Scarf

Isn't that LK Bennett hat and scarf beautiful?  Of course I am drawn to it as typically it is the most expensive but it is cashmere so possibly a nice investment buy?!

Online Shopping Woes

Sorry for being so quiet lately....there is no reason behind it except that I have been juggling family life and a busy couple of weeks in work. As I said before I love this time of year, I love the crisp, sunny days that we have been having and Stella and I have been trying to make the most of them. One of her favourite words (along with duck, bee and glasses!) is outside and from the moment she wakes up that is really where she wants to be. Just as soon as we return to the house from an outing she is clamouring at the door to get out to the garden. Its funny even as a refluxy baby she was always happier out in the open air, so possibly just a real outdoors girl.

This weekend saw us visiting Rowallene, the park, seeing family, attending the Brent Event at Castle Espie and a lot of coffee drinking.  I am still online shopping like crazy but unfortunately nearly everything ends up going back?!  I am pretty sure this means that I am the problem rather than what I am ordering.  I will be hanging my head in shame when my local delivery driver brings me parcels from Whistles and Hush this week. Lets hope these are more successful.

Coat - All Saints City Monument
Jumper - Whistles
Jeans - All Saints Grace
Boots - Dune Trish
Scarf - Lily and Lionel from Roco Boutique

This weekend also saw me breaking out my old reliable over the knee boots bought from House of Fraser a few years ago. These boots owe me nothing, I wore them pretty much every day with Topshop leggings while in the last few months of my pregnancy and they are excellent in wet and cold weather. So hard wearing and comfortable. This is the link if your interested. The jumper which you cannot see here is one of the very few things I have kept from all those deliveries over the last month and its from Whistles and in the sale. Super flattering with side slits and in a useful navy it looks great over skinny jeans. Down from £65 to £45 link.

I hope you too had a great weekend.

Last week was particularly unexciting for me which is why I didn't post. This week has been pretty much the same but I am not complaining as September/October time is actually my favourite time of the year. I always feel like it is the start of the new year rather than January?!  Maybe its with the school's starting back and the weather changing?  I am not sure but it always has me craving newness and I have enjoyed putting away my sandals and moving my summer clothes into the wardrobe in the spare room.
I feel like my wardrobe needs a little bit of a refresh though so look out for some new purchases. I am spending evenings online eyeing up leather jackets, boots and chunky jumpers not to mention darker lip colours and plum coloured eyeshadows. I love it all.

Bomber jacket - J. Crew
Top - H&M long sleeved t shirt
Jeans - J Brand Skinny Jeans
Sandals - Topshop

This photo was taken in Rowallene Gardens on Saturday. It was a great day and the 3 of us enjoyed pottering about and getting a bite to eat and coffee in the tea rooms. Another bonus is that Rowallene has a little second hand bookshop, I finally managed to buy a couple of books after months of saying that I wanted to get back into reading. A book has not been cracked open yet but they are sitting on my bedside table so it is going to happen!  It will be the first book read post baby, I aim to make it happen by the weekend.

Some Autumnal lovelyness I have been looking at...

Last Weekend

Last weekend I had a night out with some of my neighbours at a local restaurant.  Lots of wine was consumed and I woke up with a mild headache and not nearly enough sleep the next morning so clearly a good night was had!  My outfit consisted of what I felt was a weather appropriate All Saints jumper but it was definitely a mistake as the restaurant was hotter than hell!  Ahhh!

Jumper - All Saints
Jeans - J Brand Destroyed Jeans from Roco Boutique Holywood
Shoes - Topshop Rose Gold Shoes (past season)
Clutch - Accessorize
Last weekend was a busy one with both myself and my husband out on Friday and Saturday so this weekend the evenings will see us sitting firmly on the sofa watching something good on the tv.  We thought we had pretty much watched everything decent that Netflix could offer but we have recently just discovered the brilliant Stranger Things so possibly binge watching that.

Have a great weekend.

New Hair and a Outfit

This week saw me making that momentous decision of to fringe or not to fringe!  A stressful decision by anyones standards ;-) Due to tiredness, worry and possibly less water consumption (pre baby when I had very little to think about, I used to take water consumption very seriously) I have noticed fairly deep lines starting to appear on my head and since I am not willing to jump on the botox bandwagon (although never say never) I thought a fringe could be a cheaper option which would also make me less likely to get told off by my mum and my husband for getting botox.

So after losing many minutes/hours of my life looking on google images at celebrities with fringes I decided to go for it. I have dabbled with a fringe throughout the years, often they have possibly been too thick and that man of mine had many nicknames for me while sporting past fringes so I decided to go light and a little longer so I can style it to the sides if necessary.
I must say I like it, I feel like I have more of a hair style and along with the wrinkle disguise I think it looks softer and more flattering especially when wearing my hair up.  I also had some post pregnancy hair loss which has seen some tufts of hair growing back around my hairline so it also blends that in so all in all a good decision I think. Anyway if your considering it then why not!  It always grows back, although if I remember correctly it is a total pain!

Anyway here is a photo of a outfit and me sporting my new do!

Top - Part Two Copenhagen from Roco Boutique Holywood
Scarf - Lily and Lionel from Roco Boutique Holywood
Jeans - Marks and Spencer Black Skinnies

Have a nice weekend!

Mid Week Night Out-fit

This week my husband and I had a mid week evening out. Rare that we get out together and even rarer that we were out together on a Tuesday night!  It was just at our local restaurant for a BBQ charity fundraiser.  All for a good cause, so we organised a babysitter, met up with friends and off we went for a few hours.  So refreshing to get out during the week and it felt like quite a treat.....even though we were home shortly after 10pm as we both had work in the morning!  Such party people!

I had received a Zara delivery that afternoon so rather than letting the good timing go to waste I wore the 2 items I kept from it.

Blouse - Zara here
Scarf - Zara here
Jeans - All Saints  Khaki Biker Jean
Shoes - LK Bennett Andie
Bag - Mulberry

I am away now to have a big glass of rioja and watch something on tv!  Have a great weekend.

As Summery As It Gets

Well this week we have seen a little of summer. Tuesday was my day off work and I had a lovely day out with Stella enjoying the sun and playing in a park. Thursday was also fairly nice although saying that with my tendency to find anything below 20 degrees "chilly" I sadly still haven't been wearing shorts or the couple of dresses I have bought over the last few months.  So as I say these 2 outfits seem to be as summery as I can get!

Blouse - Striped Ruffle Tie Back from H&M
Jeans - Topshop Hayden Destroyed Jeans
Shoes - Warehouse Leather Sandals
Okay looking at this next one I do realise that it isn't summery at all, although I am not wearing a coat so not too bad?!

Top - Linen Sriped Holly Top from Whistles
Dungarees - New Look here
Scarf - Lily and Lionel from Roco Boutique Holywood
Shoes - Superego Silver Trainers
Slightly off piste here but I visited Lidl (a place I never go into) a few days ago to solely buy some emergency dishwasher tablets and came out with a large bag of stuff. I am a huge fan of Tea Pigs Liquorice and Peppermint tea which I buy from Tesco and at around the £4 mark they are expensive for 15 bags.  Lidl do their own version for £1.79 and to me it tastes exactly the same!  Such a bargain. I was also running out of Nespresso capsules so I picked up their own branded ones and although they aren't as good as my usual branded ones they certainly will keep me going for a while and at half the price who could complain. I will certainly be back.  Here is a photo of the tea if you want to keep an eye out for it.  They seem to satisfy me a little if I have a craving for a bit of sweetness mid morning!

Have a nice weekend, whatever you are doing!

Dior Forever and Sweet Potato Brownies

I changed up my foundation about a month ago now.  As a loyal user of Chanel Vitalumiere (maybe for 7/8 years) I decided it was time to try something new and by something new I mean something slightly more matte, better longevity and most importantly more coverage. My sleep isn't what it used to be and unfortunately that has been reflected in my face. My under eye bags have under eye circles plus along with some slight scarring on my chin from my delightful pregnancy acne my foundation just wasn't doing what it needed to. With the Chanel I had been applying 2 thin layers, then buffing in a very heavy duty Bobbi Brown or Seventeen concealer and then setting it all with Laura Mercier powder. It felt like a bit of a faff and took longer than I would have liked.

After receiving a sample of Dior Foundation I was impressed by the fuller coverage and the colour match so off I went to Boots and bought it.  I have used it now every day for a month and still love it.  I can apply one quick coat and along with my new Clinique Line Smoothing Concealer that comes with a handy wand I can get the whole thing done and dusted in record time with no powdering but fuller more mattified coverage. Result!  The photos below (7am) show pre make up and how the foundation looked at the end of the day (7pm) there was no touching up done at all apart from lipstick :-)

On a totally different note, I am still trying not to eat too much sugar during the week. Those Peanut Butter/Brownie Balls along with a couple of Kallo Dark Chocolate Rice Cakes each day seem to be keeping the sugar cravings at bay. Even my husband is a fan.  What he ISN'T a fan of is Sweet Potato Brownies.  I had made these a year or so ago and found them okay from what I could remember but decided to give them another go this week after a friend raved about Slim's Healthy Kitchen's version.  I am yet to try Slim's but I clearly must!  I excitedly followed the recipe and refrigerated them overnight as I had heard they are much tastier the next day but sadly I still find them to be rather bland. I am planning on buying some Clandeboye Estate Vanilla Yogurt tomorrow and retrying them with a spoonful of that dolloped on top to give them some much needed sweetness.  They definitely are not awful or inedible (although my husband would disagree!) but just disappointing.

Sweet Potato Brownie
What I am really enjoying is my breakfast. It is just delicious!  Chopped banana, frozen blueberries, greek yogurt and a small handful of Just Live A Little Granola.......a-may-zing and very filling. I look forward to this each morning. Healthier and much more interesting than a bowl of Crunchy Nuts.

That's all for now folks. Happy Friday and have a lovely weekend.

Palm Tree's and Shades

Don't you just love a bargain?  I have done pretty well with finding good deals lately, the first one of which is a pair of sunglasses I bought from Asos.  This year has seen not 1 but 2 pairs of sunglasses getting damaged and having to be thrown out.  One being a pair of Marc Jacobs shades and the other my much loved Rayban Erika's.  Both were pricey, so rather than replacing them with another expensive pair I was on the hunt for a cheap pair which would do me for the rest of the year and then next year when the sunglass destruction was not so fresh in my mind I would get myself another fancy pair.
I ordered 3 pairs of shades from Asos and the ones I kept were by far the best for me.  Lightweight, simple and in super glossy black oh and only £10! :-)

Sunglasses - AJ Morgan Cat Eye Sunglasses from Asos
Scarf - Lily and Lionel from Roco Boutique Holywood
Top - White Cotton Vest from Zara
Jeans - Biker Style from All Saints
My other super bargain came from H&M. Excuse my selfie, I am not terribly good at them!

This little palm tree print blouse was a total steal.  Lightweight with 3/4 length sleeves it comes in a nude colour with black palm trees.  Worn with black skinnies and sneakers it looks the part and wait for it......cost £7.99.  I wore it today as my daughter has a terrible cold and I just knew that by the end of the day I would be covered in snot, the plus is that this washes really well too ;-) Get it here if your interested.

Earlier in the week my husband and I managed to get out for a quick dinner just the two of us in Il Pirata in Belfast, the food was delicious and it was lovely getting out sans baby for a change! It was great not rushing and being able to relax and enjoy some good food and also to get a chance to have an unbroken conversation. All these things we all probably took for granted before having children! Anyway I would certainly give it a try if your ever that direction.

The margarita's were pretty epic too ;-)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend folks

Leopard Print Sandals and Chocolate Brownie Balls

Well it feels like today was the first day in ages that we actually had a bit of sunshine.  I used this momentous occasion to break out my Topshop Leopard Print Sandals.  I usually buy a new pair of Topshop leather sandals every year as I find them comfortable and very well priced.  My sandals usually don't last me longer than a year as we tend to do a lot of walking, especially when we are away on our holidays and that combined with me wearing them in the rain and chasing after a little one into the sea means they look very worn quickly and of course they must be replaced the following year ;-)

As per usual these ones tick the boxes in terms of comfort and I usually favour this style rather than a toe post which I tend to find pretty uncomfortable but also I just love a bit of leopard print!  Anyone else? I mean I know its a print but I find that it really does work with pretty much everything.  Anyway, here is a photo of me wearing them during a bit of a walk after our coffee at Daft Eddy's. I know I mentioned it before but these super soft jeans which are also from Topshop are always worn once a week as they are just so nice to wear almost like wearing your old, much worn and washed pyjamas but what I will say is that your Granny will hate them due to the ripped knees!

Top - Part Two from Roco Boutique Holywood here
Jeans - Topshop Lucas Destroyed Jeans here
Sandals - Topshop Havana Tie Up Sandal here

Last blog I had touched on the fact that I was trying to reduce the amount of refined sugar I was snacking on in the evenings.  Well I am pleased to say that I have been pretty good on that front bar the weekend ;-) I am still continuing on with these raw treats which are usually medjool date based.  This one from Madeleine Shaw has been popular this week with my husband (and me!) the recipe shows them in cake form but I actually formed them into balls for a bit of portion control as if I left it as a cake that I needed to slice then I would probably just eat the lot!

The recipe is here they hit the spot with their brownie like consistency and the chocolatey flavour.

Have a nice weekend!

Sunny Weather and Peanut Butter Balls

What beautiful weather we are having! Today has been so hot, we have been waiting for summer for what feels like ages.

Poor Stella has been teething terribly, 2 canines and 2 molars are all coming through. This has brought with it bad nights and her getting terribly upset at times during the day.  Friday night saw us only getting a few hours sleep, we thought the whole weekend was going to be a write off but we actually had a lovely one, helped of course by the nice weather.  On Saturday we managed to get Stella napping in the buggy and had lunch outside in Holywood followed by letting her have a play in the park, Sunday was spent at Delamont.  All in all a success I would say.

Check out that view at Delamont. Stella is so crazy for her Daddy, he can do nothing wrong its so sweet.
Outfit (first ever in a pet shop?!)
Scarf - Lily and Lionel
Top - New Look
Jeans - Marks and Spencer Skinny Jeans in Black
Trainers - Superga
Bag - Lulu Guinness
Look at Stella's little face in this photo. She is such a big girl for her age and usually so independent.  This was Saturday after our terrible night, she was clingy and tired.  This photo breaks my heart a little!

Since having our girl my husband and I have come to rely on a evening treat.  Once we put Stella to bed out come some biscuits, cups of tea or possibly some crisps along with something to watch on Netflix.  This is totally okay but not when your doing it every single night and the quantities are increasing!  During the day our eating is fine, I enjoy cooking so dinners are always homemade and healthy so thats not a problem its just these evening treats that need knocked on a head!

I have a terrible sweet tooth and I always used to make sweet healthy treats from Madeline Shaw's book. I started again last week and I have been enjoying these Peanut Butter Energy Balls (which are a Ella Woodward recipe) every evening.  They are delicious and much better for me than some super high sugar cookies!

Somebody likes the look of them!

These are so easy to make and I would recommend them.  The recipe is HERE if your interested.

Enjoy the rest of the sunshine you guys :-)

Town Trip and Summer Sandals

I am sure you like me are hoping this weather picks up? I am starting to struggle to find any humour in the on/off torrential rain and chilly temperatures! I currently have my winter coat back on rotation and an umbrella on my person at all times.

This week has seen us take a little shopping trip into town sans baby. My husband and I don't get much time as a couple just the 2 of us out of the house and it was seriously lovely being able to potter about the shops without having to worry about someone getting bored and "kicking off".  My husband may have treated me to a little hand bag purchase in House of Fraser too ;-) It really was such a great day.  Brunch undisturbed and a nosy at all the delicious things in Sawyers finished off our town trip and we headed back home direction feeling relaxed and happy and looking forward to seeing our girl.

Coat - All Saints City Monument
Scarf - Lily and Lionel
Jeans - Topshop Lucas Destroyed
Shoes - Steve Madden Eleanor
Bag - Tory Burch Tote

If you follow me on Instagram you will have seen that I got an online delivery of the Aquazzura rip off pom pom sandals from New Look.  The sandals are very cute and at £19.99 they are such a bargain.  I might possibly be sending mine back though as I have no holidays planned and I am so disillusioned with this horrible weather!  Here is a pic though and if you are interested you can find them here.

Sunday saw us at a neighbours house watching the Wimbledon Mens Final's. Great afternoon and result and as I was indoors (while it poured with rain outside!) I was able to wear something a bit more summery. That little New Look denim top is such a great throw on number and looks really fresh teamed with white jeans and my ultra comfortable flats.

Hush Jumpsuit

If you fancy a great all rounder that will do you for daytime wear and can be dressed up for a evening out then I can't help but recommend this jumpsuit from Hush or you could most definitely find a similar alternative, there seem to be plenty out there in the shops at the moment.

It is 100% a lazy option that sort of makes it look like you put a bit of thought/effort into your outfit.  Along with being super comfortable it looks up to date and stylish....oh and did I mention comfortable? I did? Well I cannot stress enough it really does feel like your out and about in your pyjamas!
There is also a plus that nothing is going to ride up, if you bend down to pick something up you won't reveal a couple of inches of your m&s knickers AND with the loose fitting top, 3 course dinners can be consumed with zero concern of feeling uncomfortable and having a protruding stomach in your skinny jeans.  WIN!

Here it is in action....

Sorry I look so tired, but I most definitely was :-) Also toe nails need painted, avert your eyes if your one of those people who find feet a bit gross. But other than that this jumpsuit is great for day wear, I rolled the bottoms up slightly to make it more flattering with the sandals and added a chunky grey cardigan when i went out as it was a little chilly. Super comfortable and daytime appropriate.

Hush Short Sleeve Jumpsuit
Black Dune Shoes
Clutch bag from Accessorize
Necklace from Monica Vinader
Cuff Bracelets by David Smallcombe
I actually really liked the look of this with my rose gold Topshop heels but I didn't have a bag that worked with them (adds to shopping list)

Have a nice weekend, lets hope we get at least some of it without rain!

Perfect Pairing

This week has felt like a long one, don't ask me why as it really hasn't been bad at all, Stella has behaved herself and work has been fine but it has just felt kind of long.  Possibly the weather?  I hate to whinge but I mean really?!  I have worn my winter coat twice this week and both times I was still a little chilly and wished I had brought a scarf with me!

Anyway, I received my new kitchen bar stools and computer chair this week from Atlantic Shopping all of which were total bargains and I am really pleased with them.  I think they look great in my kitchen and make it look a little more modern which is what I was after.  If you need some chairs I would highly recommend them.  They are HERE if you want to have a look.

Here is one of my more slightly interesting outfits for the week.  No trainers and no jeans, just those dungarees that I thought I would never wear but I am actually loving them and my Alexa Chung M&S blouse that is an absolute b*tch to get on and off and I don't ever actually manage to take it off without absolutely covering the thing with make up AND you can't take your make up off before taking the blouse off as the neck is so high!  First world problems eh?! Anyway I think they look great together and I will be sure to wear this outfit again despite the agony :-)

Dungarees - New Look
Blouse - Alexa Chung Harry from M&S
Shoes - Old suede courts from Dune
Bag - Tory Burch (Full of stuff!!!)
Coat - All Saints City Monument
I am now away out to buy some Calpol for my constantly teething child and toothpaste!  The glamour eh?!

Have a nice weekend.

Feeling Grateful

After a rough night with my little one (possible stomach bug) I was very grateful to see the sun out today.  I am sure everyone and not just parents agree that when the sun is out life generally seems that little bit easier!

We had an afternoon out and about looking at ducklings and cygnets at our usual haunt.  It was a beautiful afternoon and my time with Stella on these days makes me infinitely grateful that I was able to return to work as a part timer.  It is wonderful being able to spend so much time with her. Today she picked up the word 'duck!' and it was so fun seeing her having so much pleasure using it.  Although saying that everything was a duck including swans and seagulls but you gotta admire her enthusiasm!

Onto more fashion related topics. I found this little denim top in New Look a few weeks ago and realised that I have been reaching for it very regularly since I bought it.  It is thick fabric so ideal for our cool summers and it looks great worn with khaki and white jeans. The frayed and striped edge makes it very up to date too. Such a bargain for only £15.99, I love it paired with my Monica Vinadar rose gold necklace but I think it would look equally pretty worn with pastel costume jewellery that I was eyeing up in Accessorize the other day.

Top - New Look Light Blue Denim Top Link
Jeans - All Saints Biker Jeans on sale here Link
Trainers - Superga Link

Two very happy faces.....and what stomach bug?  Its amazing how they rally sometimes, throwing up the night before then running about quacking at ducks the next day. I wish I had half of that energy.

Home time with a quick stop off to vote.

Thanks for reading and I hope you had a good day.

Rose Gold Gorgeousness

A little like the dungarees I appear to be a bit behind with the whole  rose gold trend.  Its been everywhere for a while, but I have just noticed that quite a bit of it has been unknowingly sneaking into my wardrobe.  It only really occurred to me how gorgeous the shade is when someone posted an amazing photo on instagram of some rose gold cutlery which I fell madly in love with.  The cutlery is expensive and from Anthropologie, I really can't justify it especially since I already own a nice set that was bought as a wedding present when I got married but my goodness it is so lovely!

It got me then looking at other rose gold items and rather than all my rose gold perving being for no reason and being a total time wasting exercise (this is something I appear to excel at) I thought I would post them on here.

1. Rosie Huntington Whitely for Marks and Spencer Lipstick - okay this is just really a lipstick in a rose gold casing but it is very pretty.  I already own one of these lipsticks and the formula is lovely. Non drying and semi matte, it gives a great finish. Link

2. How nice is this cushion? It is from Amara and by Ted Baker. So blingy and gorgeous. Link

3. Accessorize ring, a bit of a bargain if you fancy something sparkly.  I saw this in store and it looks good. Link

4. Beautiful Raybans from House of Fraser, I actually went as far as buying these but sadly they didn't suit me and I returned them. Think this shade would possibly look better on blondes? Link

5. Havianas - I own these and I can say the brand does the comfiest flip flops. They go with everything too! Link

6. Monica Vinadar Necklace - I already own one of these but not in this rose quartz colour way. Link

7. Topshop Galaxy Shoes, sorry just realised these are sold out in this colour. I always get compliments on these. Although saying that the leather has worn terribly after I wore them while driving. Here is the black in the sale.....quite tempted. Link

8. These Steve Madden Eleanor shoes are another item that I own, again ridiculously comfortable and I would recommend them Link

9. Clearly I had to add in what started all this!  Although these are actually a cheaper version from House of Fraser. I want! Link

This is what I am wearing today, excuse my crumpled look, my little girl is teething and after a couple of rough nights she was a bit miserable this morning and wanted nothing more than to snuggle in and look at her books.  Poor wee thing has been teething forrreeevveerrrr but only has the 6 teeth! All very unfair.

The To Do List That Never Gets Done

We moved into our house 2 years ago, I was pregnant at the time and I had no idea what was in store for us!  When moving in we created a To Do List of things we wanted to get done around the house some of these things were big (knocking down walls!) and some were small (changing all light fittings!) but pretty much nothing got done.  Nothing.....in 2 years we have barely managed to score anything off our list apart from putting in a couple of stoves and only that was done as our house was absolutely arctic, so it was kind of a necessity.

I had no idea that having a baby would stop us from achieving what we wanted to do with our home and its not Stella's fault....its our fault.  Come the evening we are either so tired from work or parenting(!) that we have our tea, collapse in front of the tv and head to bed.  Times are changing though people, our girl is sleeping through the night now (it only took 15 months ;-) so we need to start getting stuff done. No excuses!

I am starting off small and this week I took delivery of a fabulous full length mirror from House of Fraser.  I have been without a full length mirror for 2 years now so I am totally loving this new addition.  It was also a case of go big or go home!  It is a monster! It is the Casa Couture Valencia Leaner Mirror if anyone is interested. Photo from House of Fraser website.
I have also ordered some new bar stools from Atlantic Shopping. The prices on this website are fantastic so I am hoping the quality will be decent enough.  Fingers crossed and I will keep you posted.

It was my husbands birthday last week and if you follow me on Instagram you will know my little girl thoroughly enjoyed her first taste of birthday cake.  I obviously wasn't shovelling the cake into her mouth quick enough so the spoon was snatched from me and she went to town. It got worse....so much worse than this!

We went out for dinner on Saturday night for my husband's belated birthday celebrations. I was able to give the photographer/birthday boy the night off and I took a couple of photos in my new mirror to let you see my outfit.

New Look Dungarees

For years I have loved jeans, dressed up/dressed down if I wasn't in work you would find me in my favourite skinny denim.  Lately though I have become a little fed up of my off duty uniform and I think its because I am now working part time so whereas I used to only have 2 or 3 days of the week in jeans that has now increased to 5 days.

Soooooooo, I have been online gazing at dresses, skirts, trousers, leggings....you name it I have looked at it!  I have ordered a couple of things which should be winging there way to me as we speak.
Also and I know I am a bit late to the game on this one but what I did pick up in New Look in Forestside just recently was black dungarees. Now I am slightly unsure of these on me, I have seen them on girls looking stylish on the street and seen some lovely ones on instagram but I am just not totally sure?  They are ridiculously comfortable and I feel they might be a great alternative to skinnies (and yes I know they are still denim but they aren't jeans okay?!) but on their own with just a tee underneath I feel like a bit of a knob, I just don't feel like they are me. Then I tried them on with a shirt and scarf........and I think I like it!  They were extremely reasonable at £22.99 so I will be keeping them at that price as I may possibly kick myself if I don't.

Here is a pic, please forgive the ladders in the background.  My husband is meant to be doing something with them but they have been there for an age so goodness knows. Talking about my husband I am pretty sure he is going to hate these ;-)

Scarf - Lily and Lionel - Roco Boutique Holywood
Trainers - Stan Smiths
So if your in the market for some dungarees maybe give the New Look ones a try?  For me they are what I wanted fit wise, not too tight but not too loose on the leg, adjustable straps on the top and that price point is just too good. Possibly going to be more of a Autumn/Winter piece for me because of the way I am choosing to wear them but I will maybe play around with them some more to see if I can get anything else to work.

Whats your thoughts on dungarees? Are you a convert?

Castle Espie and Gran Fondo

I am still loaded with this extremely annoying Summer cold but we managed to make the most of the gorgeously sunny weekend that we have just had, all be it very well dosed up on Lemsip!  My poor little girl has also has got the lurgy although her mood has been good during the day, the last few nights have been tough and not much sleep has been had by any of us.

Thursday saw me at Castle Espie with Stella. It was a glorious day and although I felt unbelievably hideous I still felt lucky to be out with my girl walking about in the sun and looking at the cutest fluffy ducklings and the odd rabbit.

Wildwood Play
That face is saying 'come play with me Mummy'. Stella is growing up so fast, she is picking up new words every week, starting to feed herself with a spoon and she is able to play for a short time independently.  Its amazing watching her grow. I keep looking at her and wondering where did my little baby go. It makes me feel so proud but emotional all at the same time.

Top - J Brand
Coat - Zara Trench
Jeans - Topshop Hayden Ripped Jeans
Sandals - Topshop Leather Sandals
By the way that Zara coat is still being super useful and its definitely going to be one that doesn't get put away and gets used all year round.

Today my husband took part in the Gran Fondo. He completed it and enjoyed himself.  The route passed our house so he was able to make a pit stop to see us.  Clearly he wasn't trying to win it! If the pit stop wasn't confirmation of that then the amount of beer he consumed the night before would also have cleared that up for you ;-)

Here she is cheering on Daddy!  Saying that watching the cyclists with Stella was not a relaxing time, she wanted to be on the road where the action was happening which made for a bit of a stressful morning! We didn't last too long!

Sorry for the lack of outfits in this post but there was very little style going on this week.  I pretty much had the comfiest clothes I could find on repeat these last few days.  I aim to do better this coming week!  Thanks for reading :-)

Enjoying the Sunshine

How much are we all enjoying the sunshine?  It is just so uplifting  Plus a bonus for me with having a toddler is that it makes life so much easier. There is so much more you can do when your not just restricted to indoor activities.

My husband and I were both off on Monday so we enjoyed a walk around Belfast in the sun, then we headed over to Holywood and had some lunch and THEN we went to the Cultra Inn for a drink before heading home!  We fitted in as much as possible.

Trainers - New Look

Sunglasses - Ray Ban
On Tuesday, we had a party at a neighbours house to attend.  It was a lovely evening and we kept our girl out past her bedtime as she was enjoying herself so much playing with the other children.  I kept it low key and casual.

Top - Stills from Roco Boutique (last year)
Chinos - J Brand
Sandals - Topshop
Necklace - Accessorize
I picked up the necklace from Accessorize on Monday.  It is so pretty, the beads have a little sparkle and the pendant is made out of stone.  It looks much more expensive than the £22 price tag.

Here is a better one of it.

Lets hope this sunshine lovely-ness continues at least for the weekend.  Its my husbands birthday and unfortunately for him both Stella and I are loaded with pretty horrible colds!
