Mid Week Night Out-fit

This week my husband and I had a mid week evening out. Rare that we get out together and even rarer that we were out together on a Tuesday night!  It was just at our local restaurant for a BBQ charity fundraiser.  All for a good cause, so we organised a babysitter, met up with friends and off we went for a few hours.  So refreshing to get out during the week and it felt like quite a treat.....even though we were home shortly after 10pm as we both had work in the morning!  Such party people!

I had received a Zara delivery that afternoon so rather than letting the good timing go to waste I wore the 2 items I kept from it.

Blouse - Zara here
Scarf - Zara here
Jeans - All Saints  Khaki Biker Jean
Shoes - LK Bennett Andie
Bag - Mulberry

I am away now to have a big glass of rioja and watch something on tv!  Have a great weekend.

As Summery As It Gets

Well this week we have seen a little of summer. Tuesday was my day off work and I had a lovely day out with Stella enjoying the sun and playing in a park. Thursday was also fairly nice although saying that with my tendency to find anything below 20 degrees "chilly" I sadly still haven't been wearing shorts or the couple of dresses I have bought over the last few months.  So as I say these 2 outfits seem to be as summery as I can get!

Blouse - Striped Ruffle Tie Back from H&M
Jeans - Topshop Hayden Destroyed Jeans
Shoes - Warehouse Leather Sandals
Okay looking at this next one I do realise that it isn't summery at all, although I am not wearing a coat so not too bad?!

Top - Linen Sriped Holly Top from Whistles
Dungarees - New Look here
Scarf - Lily and Lionel from Roco Boutique Holywood
Shoes - Superego Silver Trainers
Slightly off piste here but I visited Lidl (a place I never go into) a few days ago to solely buy some emergency dishwasher tablets and came out with a large bag of stuff. I am a huge fan of Tea Pigs Liquorice and Peppermint tea which I buy from Tesco and at around the £4 mark they are expensive for 15 bags.  Lidl do their own version for £1.79 and to me it tastes exactly the same!  Such a bargain. I was also running out of Nespresso capsules so I picked up their own branded ones and although they aren't as good as my usual branded ones they certainly will keep me going for a while and at half the price who could complain. I will certainly be back.  Here is a photo of the tea if you want to keep an eye out for it.  They seem to satisfy me a little if I have a craving for a bit of sweetness mid morning!

Have a nice weekend, whatever you are doing!

Dior Forever and Sweet Potato Brownies

I changed up my foundation about a month ago now.  As a loyal user of Chanel Vitalumiere (maybe for 7/8 years) I decided it was time to try something new and by something new I mean something slightly more matte, better longevity and most importantly more coverage. My sleep isn't what it used to be and unfortunately that has been reflected in my face. My under eye bags have under eye circles plus along with some slight scarring on my chin from my delightful pregnancy acne my foundation just wasn't doing what it needed to. With the Chanel I had been applying 2 thin layers, then buffing in a very heavy duty Bobbi Brown or Seventeen concealer and then setting it all with Laura Mercier powder. It felt like a bit of a faff and took longer than I would have liked.

After receiving a sample of Dior Foundation I was impressed by the fuller coverage and the colour match so off I went to Boots and bought it.  I have used it now every day for a month and still love it.  I can apply one quick coat and along with my new Clinique Line Smoothing Concealer that comes with a handy wand I can get the whole thing done and dusted in record time with no powdering but fuller more mattified coverage. Result!  The photos below (7am) show pre make up and how the foundation looked at the end of the day (7pm) there was no touching up done at all apart from lipstick :-)

On a totally different note, I am still trying not to eat too much sugar during the week. Those Peanut Butter/Brownie Balls along with a couple of Kallo Dark Chocolate Rice Cakes each day seem to be keeping the sugar cravings at bay. Even my husband is a fan.  What he ISN'T a fan of is Sweet Potato Brownies.  I had made these a year or so ago and found them okay from what I could remember but decided to give them another go this week after a friend raved about Slim's Healthy Kitchen's version.  I am yet to try Slim's but I clearly must!  I excitedly followed the recipe and refrigerated them overnight as I had heard they are much tastier the next day but sadly I still find them to be rather bland. I am planning on buying some Clandeboye Estate Vanilla Yogurt tomorrow and retrying them with a spoonful of that dolloped on top to give them some much needed sweetness.  They definitely are not awful or inedible (although my husband would disagree!) but just disappointing.

Sweet Potato Brownie
What I am really enjoying is my breakfast. It is just delicious!  Chopped banana, frozen blueberries, greek yogurt and a small handful of Just Live A Little Granola.......a-may-zing and very filling. I look forward to this each morning. Healthier and much more interesting than a bowl of Crunchy Nuts.

That's all for now folks. Happy Friday and have a lovely weekend.

Palm Tree's and Shades

Don't you just love a bargain?  I have done pretty well with finding good deals lately, the first one of which is a pair of sunglasses I bought from Asos.  This year has seen not 1 but 2 pairs of sunglasses getting damaged and having to be thrown out.  One being a pair of Marc Jacobs shades and the other my much loved Rayban Erika's.  Both were pricey, so rather than replacing them with another expensive pair I was on the hunt for a cheap pair which would do me for the rest of the year and then next year when the sunglass destruction was not so fresh in my mind I would get myself another fancy pair.
I ordered 3 pairs of shades from Asos and the ones I kept were by far the best for me.  Lightweight, simple and in super glossy black oh and only £10! :-)

Sunglasses - AJ Morgan Cat Eye Sunglasses from Asos
Scarf - Lily and Lionel from Roco Boutique Holywood
Top - White Cotton Vest from Zara
Jeans - Biker Style from All Saints
My other super bargain came from H&M. Excuse my selfie, I am not terribly good at them!

This little palm tree print blouse was a total steal.  Lightweight with 3/4 length sleeves it comes in a nude colour with black palm trees.  Worn with black skinnies and sneakers it looks the part and wait for it......cost £7.99.  I wore it today as my daughter has a terrible cold and I just knew that by the end of the day I would be covered in snot, the plus is that this washes really well too ;-) Get it here if your interested.

Earlier in the week my husband and I managed to get out for a quick dinner just the two of us in Il Pirata in Belfast, the food was delicious and it was lovely getting out sans baby for a change! It was great not rushing and being able to relax and enjoy some good food and also to get a chance to have an unbroken conversation. All these things we all probably took for granted before having children! Anyway I would certainly give it a try if your ever that direction.

The margarita's were pretty epic too ;-)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend folks
